Studying MBBS in Georgia is a new option for Indian students who wish to study MBBS in abroad since getting admission in India is getting tougher every year due to the rising fee of private colleges and the ever-growing competition for government seats.

Please note that this Georgia is a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia and not the US state of Georgia nor a part of Europe or the European Union (EU) contrary to what some people mislead students that it is a European Country.

The students have the option of both Government and Private universities. The universities teaching MBBS in Georgia follows European teaching pattern and mostly offers a course of 6-year course duration, though, you might also find universities offering a medical degree in 5-year duration.

MBBS in Georgia Eligibility

The following is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission of an Indian student in Georgia :

Academic	Must have completed class 12th from a regular and recognised board
Minimum Marks	50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject for General Category

Duration of MBBS in Georgia

The actual duration of MBBS in Georgia is 6 years divided into two parts: 5 years of academic studies with practical exposure and 1 year of internship. Some universities say that they will allow students to do the internship in India if the student clears the screening test (NEXT) after completion of the 5 years and such universities claim that the duration is of 5 years. But even if you are able to do internship in India, you will be asked to pay fees for the entire 6 years.. It is always better to take the complete 6 years in Georgia and then return to India to take the FMGE/NEXT Exam for getting the license to practice in India...

When to apply?

• The sessions starts in September while the students can reach till late October also.
• In some universities, there is an intake for February-March session also.
• The admission process for Georgia takes at least 45-60 days. Hence late comers won’t be able to get admission.
